DAYTON, Ohio, September 21, 2006 -- Millbrook Distribution Services, headquartered in Leicester, Massachusetts, has selected Edict Systems, Inc., a leading provider of Internet-based Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) services, to bring more efficient and economical EDI services to Millbrook and to increase EDI adoption from its suppliers.
Millbrook provides specialty, ethnic and natural foods to more than 10,000 retail stores in 45 states. When Millbrook and Edict began working together, Millbrook was doing EDI with approximately 50 percent of their 1,200 suppliers via a 3rd party Value-Added Network. To fully realize the efficiency and cost savings of EDI, the company needed a much higher percentage of compliance from its suppliers and a lower cost EDI provider.
"Edict is able to offer Millbrook innovations and additional EDI services at a lower cost than they had been receiving," says Dave Rike, Edict's Vice President of Sales. "In addition to using EnterpriseEC®, our Trading Community Connectivity and Management solution, Millbrook is utilizing Edict's Hub & Spoke program to enlist more of their suppliers via our GroceryEC.com service in a dedicated effort to meet their goal of 100-percent participation.".
Edict assisted Millbrook with implementing Advance Ship Notices and bar coding by providing technical assistance and a web-based ASN solution for their suppliers. "Millbrook is also adding Edict's unique hosted business rules service, ValidateEC, to enhance their current EDI capabilities" Mr. Rike adds. "ValidateEC performs data integrity matches on all data in real-time to assure complete accuracy. Should there be any discrepancy between what was ordered, shipped, and delivered, the system electronically notifies all parties immediately and allows Millbrook to monitor their entire supply chain via a web-based interface."
Karen Leggett, Millbrook's Vice President of Purchasing Systems says, "Millbrook Distribution Services has been engaged in a project with Edict Systems on an important business initiative during the last year. Our goal is to achieve 100% supplier compliance with EDI for all purchase orders and invoices. Edict Systems management, project support team and development resources have been outstanding to work with. Edict's people are professional and knowledgeable. They handle all vendor ramping activities and their testing & certification process is highly effective and efficient. This allows Millbrook to achieve our business and financial goals. We are looking forward to implementing ValidateEC within the coming year. This product will dramtically change our ability to see and react to our commerce transaction data and establish critical two-way communication with our trading partners."
"The migration to Edict from Millbrook's previous EDI provider has been very smooth," Mr. Rike concludes. "We make EDI simple and economical enough to serve the needs of businesses of all sizes, facilitating the participation of every supplier. Our goal is to establish a supply chain process that is mutually beneficial to both Millbrook and their trading partners."
